Q22:
Why
PSAdmin program and its wizard cannot find Print Server?
We
found some feedbacks from Windows XP users, there is a XP SP2
embedded personal firewall blocks PSAdmin packet to find the print
servers. You can turn off Windows XP SP2 embedded personal firewall
with the following steps:
1.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Security Center.
3. Select Windows Firewall. You will see a dialog box like this
file.
4. Select Off
After
turn off firewall, PSAdmin works to find print server and setup it.
After setup, users may turn personal firewall back to ON again.
Meanwhile,
PSAdmin use IPX and TCP/IP protocol to find Print Servers, if the
PCs network interface card is connected on the same segment of
Print Server, it tries IPX protocol first, if not found, it tries IP
protocol again, even the IP address is not on the same subnet,
PSAdmin will find the printers on the same segment of print server.
